video transfer biz

rob and i are working on our third wedding video transfer project.

what we are doing for these lucky lucky couples are:
1/ transfer video from VHS to DVD
2/ breaking up the footage into chunks that will become "chapters" on the DVD
3/ adding title cards and doing some colour correcting
4/ creating a wedding highlights with music piece
5/ creating a very nice DVD menu using wedding pictures plus all that chaptering business

for the first one, we were thanked with new zealand wine and a gift. the second one was a co-worker of the first one and so i only charged them $20 for the direct transfer but then they decided they wanted the music video highlights thing. i don't really want to charge them extra since i didn't give them a price for the music video for doing it.

so, the third transfer request is from a manager where rob works. and since she's going to hand out our wedding promo dvd to people who book wedding receptions at the hotel, we probably won't be charging her either.

this whole charging thing is stressing me out a bit because we aren't charging for it! although i do have lots of fun working on them.

my interweb research shows that others are charging around $200 to transfer and $300-500 to do a wedding music video.

i smell invoices in my future.
